The main business of the meeting was to install Sir Kt. Graham Barker as a Knight of Malta. The Eminent Preceptor opened the Priory promptly at 6.30pm. and after the opening, minutes adoption etc. there was a eulogy in respect of departed merit, E. Kt. Kenneth Bowdler P. Prov. Chamb., who had sadly died two weeks earlier. This was the first meeting since our installation and several of the officers were occupying the positions for the first time. The new Chaplain, E. Kt. Stuart Shaw, P. Prov. Aide-de-Camp, was one of these and he made a very good first eulogy for E. Kt. Ken Bowdler.
The Marshal E. Kt. David Crowley kept the proceedings moving and under the watchful eye of the Provincial Marshal E. Kt. David Emmerson. The Eminent Prior, E. Kt. James Weaver had confided that, in his position of Security Guard when on nights, he spent much of the quieter hours with the ritual book – and it showed in an excellent ceremony which was enjoyed by all – especially the candidate.
