Prescot Lodge held their Lancashire night recently and a fantastic time was had by all who attended, the members and their guests wer treated to a “Full English Breakfast” provided by Barkers Catering, starting with a fresh fruit medley the superb self service breakfast was substantial enough for the largest appetites and the repast was comlpeted with toast and marmalade for afters.
Entertainment was provided by well known local folk singer and humourist Mark Dowling who treated the Brethren and guests to a repertoire of good old folk music as well as performing a rendition of Stanley Holloway’s “Albert and The Lion” just before the interval.
This telling of the story of the young lad swallowed by a Lion at Blackpool Zoo was followed by a delivery by W.Bro.John Whalley of “Albert’s Return” which tells how the Lion disgorged young Albert, who returns home just in time to prevent his parents collecting the insurance money, W.Bro John also treated the audience to a third Holloway Monologue, once more starring young Albert, called “The Recumbent Posture”.
Mark then retook the stage and once more entertained the audience with more Lancashire songs and stories, a most enjoyable evening was had by all who attended.
